peoplefone is one of the first companies to bring the new VoIP technology to Switzerland. Our first product, an USB phone, can be connected to any computer.
Soon, we launch the peoplefone Box, the first pre-configured VoIP adapter that connects the analogue telephone directly to the router. It makes Voice over IP easier than ever. Due to strong market demand, we are also expanding into Austria.
Starting in 2007, additional VoIP adapters will allow the simultaneous connection of several analogue phones and traditional fax machines. Our expansion also continues: we open a branch in Poland, and just one year later, in 2008, we enter the Slovakian market.
peoplefone is the first provider in Switzerland to launch a VoIP app for iPhone OS, attracting broad media attention. Private customers can avoid high roaming costs when they are abroad. In 2010 the app is also available for Android OS.
From private to B2B, we begin offering companies the ability to set up SIP-TRUNKS for their telephone systems within minutes.
peoplefone gets largely certified by all major telephone manufacturers.
peoplefone launches its in-house developed solution, peoplefone HOSTED. An user-friendly and cost-effective cloud PBX.
Our European expansion continues with the opening of a branch in Lithuania.
Early on, we chose a leading telephony solution with 3CX - today, we are among the top partners with the highest status and offer a fully integrated solution with peoplefone 3CX HOSTED.
To provide business customers in our neighbouring country with the best possible service, we open a branch in Germany in 2015, strengthening our presence in the DACH region.
peoplefone's efforts and commitment during the first ten years are recognized in 2016 with the award for "Best European VoIP Provider".
We recognize the potential of Microsoft Teams and, in 2018, we enable the seamless integration of telephony with Microsoft Teams – initially through Direct Routing and later via Operator Connect. Today, Teams integration is one of our most important pillars in the field of unified communications.
Thanks to the synergies from the French-speaking part of Switzerland, we open a new branch in France, another neighbouring country, France, in 2019.
The focus on SMEs, the collaboration with strong installation partners, the ISDN network switch-off in various countries, and the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 all contributed to steady growth in our business customer base. In 2020, we welcome our 30,000th business customer across the entire peoplefone Group.
To support its ongoing growth, peoplefone decides in 2021 to open a development hub in Pune, India, addressing the increasing challenges of recruiting IT specialists in Europe. Today, the Indian team has grown to ten employees, further strengthening our global development capabilities.
In 2022, peoplefone Poland is among the winners of the Forbes Diamonds Award, while peoplefone Germany receives the Kununu Award as one of the best place to work.
In Switzerland, peoplefone consistently ranks yearly on the podium of the BILANZ Telecom Rating for Business since 2013 — including six times in first place.
In 2023, peoplefone proudly welcomes its 101st employee to the Group.
