2005: Christophe Beaud founds peoplefone
peoplefone is one of the first companies to bring the new VoIP technology to Switzerland. With our first product, a USB VoIP phone, the mobile phone can now be connected to any computer.
2006: Opening in Austria
Due to high market demand, we venture into Austria in 2006. We also launch the peoplefone Box, the first pre-configured VoIP adapter that connects the telephone directly to the modem. The way is paved for Voice over IP.
2007: Opening in Poland, 2008: Opening in Slovakia, 2012: Opening in Lithuania
From 2007, additional VoIP adapters will enable the simultaneous connection of several analogue telephones and conventional fax machines. We also continue to expand: we open a branch in Poland. One year later, in 2008, we open up Slovakia and in 2012 a branch in Lithuania.
2009: peoplefone APP
peoplefone launches the first VoIP app for iPhone OS in Switzerland and collects a broad interest in the media. For Android OS the App is available as of 2010.
2010: Partnerships with technology leaders
peoplefone has relied on strong technology partnerships from the very beginning to provide customers with state-of-the-art communication.
We offer companies the opportunity to set up SIP-TRUNKS for their telephone systems within minutes and are largely certified by all well-known telephone manufacturers.
2012: Our first own cloud PBX peoplefone HOSTED is launched on the market.
peoplefone HOSTED is developed in-house by our peoplefone VoIP engineers as a user-friendly and cost-effective cloud PBX. Today, peoplefone HOSTED is a widely used telephone system for SMEs and is still a mainstay of our product portfolio. It is constantly being further developed and supplemented with new functions.
2014: Partnership with 3CX
Early on, we opted for a leading telephony solution with 3CX - today we are one of the top partners with the highest status and offer a fully integrated solution hosted in Switzerland with peoplefone 3CX HOSTED.
2015: Opening in Germany
In order to provide customers in our neighbouring country with the best possible service, we set up a branch in Germany in 2015.
2016: Best European VoIP provider
Our commitment in recent years was recognized in 2016 with the "Best European VoIP Provider" award.
2018: Microsoft Teams
We recognised the potential of Microsoft TEAMS just as early on. Since 2018, we have enabled the seamless connection of telephony to TEAMS - initially via Direct Routing and later with Operator Connect. Today, TEAMS integration is one of our most important pillars in the area of unified communications.
2019: Opening in France
We are opening up another neighbouring country, France, with a new branch in 2019.
30’000 companies rely on peoplefone!
The focus on SMEs, cooperation with installation partners, the switch-off of the ISDN network in the countries and the coronavirus pandemic in 2020 have led to steady growth in the number of business customers. In 2020, we welcomed our 30’000th business customer throughout the peoplefone Group!
2021: peoplefone opens location in India.
The constant expansion of peoplefone requires an ongoing expansion of the development team. In 2021, we decide to establish a development hub in India to cushion the increasingly difficult recruitment of IT specialists in Europe. Our team in Pune, India, now consists of ten employees.

2023: peoplefone has 101 employees!
In 2023, we are delighted to welcome our 101st employee of the Group. It is important to us that we can rely on support staff at all our locations who know the local conditions and speak the respective language.
2023: peoplefone invests in young IT talent.
peoplefone supports the famous university of ETH Zurich in the fields of information technology and electrical engineering. With the ‘Best BSc Thesis Award’ for D-ITET students and sponsorship of the bachelor's degree programmes, peoplefone is helping to ensure that IT specialists continue to be trained in Switzerland in the future.
2024 peoplefone is a full-solution provider
Corporate customers today expect more from a provider and appreciate it when all communication solutions are offered from a single source. peoplefone therefore becomes an internet provider as early as 2016, a data SIM offering is added to the range in 2018 and peoplefone becomes a mobile telephony provider in 2024. Further additional offers continuously expand the range and make us a full solution provider.
2025: Start-up spirit after 20 years!
