Edelweiss

Why did Edelweiss Air switch to a new telephony solution?

We were using Skype for Business. But since the support contract for that was expiring, we looked for a new solution. We’re now using Microsoft Teams.

Why did you decide to partner with peoplefone?

We had offers from various providers on the table. We ultimately chose peoplefone because they were recommended to us by our long-standing integration partner, UPGREAT. In addition, they provided us with a very good, customized offer that includes, among other things, a flat rate. For Edelweiss, this is essential and critical to our operations. As an airline, our phone system must run 24/7; otherwise, we have a problem.

What’s the biggest difference compared to the previous solution?

There are no significant differences. Our employees didn’t really notice the switch at all. Since we also make international calls and not all of our partners abroad have Microsoft Teams, we need a landline connection in addition to VoIP telephony. That’s also included in the new offer.

How did the transition to Microsoft Teams go?

It was a collaboration between UPGREAT, peoplefone, and us. The migration took about two hours and went off without a hitch. There was an interruption of just five minutes, which is completely normal for this kind of transition. Everything else went smoothly as well: The kick-off meeting, for example, lasted just one hour—that’s all it takes when you know what you’re doing (laughs).

Were there—or are there—any specific challenges?

As I mentioned, unlike other companies, we have to be available around the clock. Fortunately, internet telephony is now very secure and stable. However, since there’s no such thing as 100% security, we always have to have a Plan B—or backup scenarios—ready.

What does this Plan B look like?

Edelweiss has an analog phone line at its Operations Center at Zurich Airport. This is used in an emergency.

We’re very satisfied, including with the entire transition.

We’re very satisfied, including with the entire transition. Thanks to strong partners, everything went off without a hitch.

And how has your experience been working with peoplefone?

In my view, peoplefone is a very innovative and reliable company. I would recommend their services and offerings at any time—also because the company offers high quality at a good price.
