What solution did you switch to, and why? 

Following Swisscom’s announcement that ISDN would be phased out, we evaluated various solutions and ultimately decided on a 3CX system from peoplefone. Since we already had our own servers, we opted for peoplefone’s SIP trunks and are therefore hosting the solution in-house. 

What is the biggest difference between the old and the new solution? 

The main difference is that the old solution was hardware-based, whereas the new one is software-based. Making calls works the same way it did years ago, but the technology behind it has changed. We’re more flexible now—we can make calls via our smartphones or computers. We really appreciate this advantage. 

Why did you choose peoplefone and Novalink? 

Novalink has been our IT service provider for quite some time. We’ve already implemented other projects with Novalink—including the installation of the old phone system. Novalink knows us well and recommended peoplefone to us because the two companies have a strong partnership. Plus, I’d already heard good things about peoplefone beforehand. 

How did the transition from the old system to the new one go? 

Actually, it went very smoothly. The project went more smoothly than expected. If you approach it with a structured plan, the transition isn’t a problem. We had already set up all the clients in advance, so on D-Day, all we had to do was port the numbers. That worked flawlessly. 

Were there any challenges? 

No, not really. The software—3CX—is an open-source solution. It’s very well documented, and there’s a huge community that can help with any questions. This allows you to quickly gain a relatively deep understanding of the system. In addition, Novalink and peoplefone provided us with excellent support throughout the transition. I never felt like I was just a customer; instead, I was always treated as an equal partner. Together, we implemented a great solution. 

What is the collaboration with Novalink and peoplefone like today? 

For us, everything actually runs directly through peoplefone. This is certainly also due to the fact that we host the solution ourselves. So when we have a question about phone numbers, peoplefone is the right point of contact for us. Novalink supported us right up until the solution went live, showing us how to set up a system and providing training on how to configure an extension. Since then, however, the company hasn’t been heavily involved.
